Diving I became a diver in 2000 and I believe that it is the most relaxing way of passing the holidays. I did my first dive, course and the exam for the Open Water Diver in Red Sea Diving Safari in Egypt. After I dove in The Netherlands, once - cold water, huge crowd and a sank old Volkswagen as a main attraction...didn't strike me as an experience I wanted to repeat often. Our biggest diving adventure was in Madagascar, where we went for voluntary expedition with Blue Ventures to help collecting marine data. But first, we had to learn 150 species of fish and various types of bentic forms - 4 exams to take in total. Gotten in to an exam mode, we also toolk a Rescue Diver course. To this collection of licences, we have recently added the Nitrox Diver licence. We have also trained those new skills diving wrek Dania in Kenia with Bucaneer Diving club (most recommended!). Skiing I go to the Alps every year for at least a week and torture myself and the mountains skiing for 5-6 hours a day. Then I get back home and I am dead for the next couple of days. I try to be adventurous and ski off the pistes, if I am not too scared. Usually, when I decide to do so and I am stuck somewhere in the middle of the slope I start a big quarrel with my alter-ego, of who is responsible for such a stupid idea;-) And each time when I finally survive, I am so proud of mislay that I repeat the whole story again...women...!! Tennis & steps I excersise these two for couple of years already. Sports give me a chance to distance myself from work, from problems, from anything that may preoccupy my mind and the technical university in Eindhoven offers a good chance to do so. Science Fiction literature The
primarily reason why I studied Classic Philology was to read books.
TV can disappear from the earth if books remain. Basically, I read
everything that catches my interest from detective stories to fantasy.
However, I became a big fun of SC Fiction literature lately. My favourite
books are: "Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy" of Douglas
Adams, "Dune
novels" of Frank Herbert and "Foundation" and
other stories of Isaac
Asimov. My other favourite author is a polish writer Stanislaw
Lem. Travelling I travel. A lot. Whenever an opportunity. Far and close. I always keep on planning it. ...and if I am stuck in one place, I read books of Ryszard Kapuscinski, Polish traveler and jurnalist just to plan where to go next. Cooking I always declared myself as the one who hates to be in the kitchen;-) And it is true...to some extents enjoy trying or/and creating new dishes, when I have enough time and energy for it. This means: no for daily cooking, YES for cooking for special occasions. Of course, it doesn't change the fact that I cook every day, anyway and My semi-finished cookbook is already online - but can a cookbook ever be ready? It is, however, in Polish only. |
